Festival wedding for rockers

A couple of rock fans chose the ultimate themed wedding when they tied the knot at a music festival at the weekend.

Leicestershire musician Peter Onyskow and his German bride Stefanie Michels met due to their love of heavy metal and decided to commemorate the fact with their choice of wedding venue, reports the BBC.

They exchanged rings in a ceremony held on the first day of the Download Festival at Donington Park, with the new Mrs Onyskow's white dress about the only traditional feature of the occasion.

The happy couple then headed off to watch a day's entertainment that featured veteran rockers Kiss, Judas Priest and Motorhead.

Although the music may not have been customary first dance fare, the bride insisted the rock festival was the right venue for their wedding.

"We both love music, we both grew up with music and Pete is playing live music in bands since he could walk ... music is our life and it was just the obvious choice," she explained.

The newlyweds spent the beginning of their honeymoon in a tent rather than a luxurious hotel after opting to stay for the weekend to see the rest of the festival.
