Out-of-this world wedding venue
02/07/2008
Space really is the final frontier in wedding venues and one couple have vowed to be the first to tie the knot there, reports the Daily Mail.
American aerospace firm Rocketplace and Japanese company First Advantage are offering engaged couples the chance to wed 100 kilometres above the Earth from 2011 onwards.
Couples can book the £1.1 million package as of today (July 1st), the newspaper reports, and Cindy Cashman and Mitch Walling have done just that.
Author Cashman revealed that after a premonition that she would be the first bride in space she took to the internet to find herself a groom.
After agreeing to marry her, Walling admitted he was surprised to find out his fiancee's wedding plans.
Included in the package is the bride's dress, tickets for two guests along with a party for friends and family on the ground, who can watch the ceremony via live video streaming.
Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported that Richard Branson could be the first man to conduct a wedding ceremony in space, as a couple had booked a marriage trip on the Virgin Galactic sub-orbital flight next year.
