Morocco more popular with families

The North African destination of Morocco has become much more accessible for families to travel to and around, according to Orion Trek Voyages.

Jane Folliott, a specialist in Morocco travel, said that the country's recent development in terms of facilities means that more people are confident about taking children to the region.

High seasons tend to be linked around school holiday times, as well as Easter and Christmas.

"At Christmas it's a very popular destination - it's short haul from the UK, it's exotic, it's for people that don't want the full on Christmas kind of thing in their face," she explained. "For people who want to get out of the drudgery of winter in Europe, it's perfect."

According to this year's Business Monitor International's Morocco Tourism Report, in January 2008, Morocco's Tourism Ministry announced that tourist arrivals to Morocco during the first 11 months of 2007 registered a rise of 14 per cent year-on-year.

Kayak.co.uk revealed that more than a third of Brits are willing to travel more than ten hours to reach their dream Christmas destination.
