Denzel and wife mark anniversary

Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in Italy.

The couple spent time together at a seaside resort in Ponza - the largest of the Italian Pontine Islands.

They were spotted at a local restaurant enjoying a meal, after which they hired a motorboat and went for a ride in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Denzel and Pauletta were married on June 25, 1983 - almost six years after they fell in love on the set of Wilma, the actor's debut TV movie.

In 1995, the Hollywood couple renewed their vows at a ceremony officiated by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa.

The pair have four children - John David, 25, Katia, 21, and twins Olivia and Malcolm, 18.

A much-acclaimed actor, Denzel has been awarded three Golden Globes and two Oscars for his work. In 2001, he became only the second African American man, after Sidney Poitier, to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, for his role in Training Day.
