Beckham surprises mum on birthday

England football star David Beckham had a little surprise in store for his mother on her 60th birthday when he turned up with his family at a restaurant where she was celebrating the big day.

Sandra Beckham was having a dinner with family and friends at a restaurant near Chelmsford in Essex when David, his wife Victoria and their sons made a surprise appearance.

"They crept in through the back so they could surprise the birthday girl. There were gasps of delight when they walked in with a lots of hugs and kisses," a source told the Sunday Mirror.

After sneaking in through the kitchen, the couple and their sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and Cruz, four, joined Sandra and others at the table for a meal. The football star topped it off with a touching after-dinner speech.

"It was just like any other family birthday party. Their children were running around with all the other kids," the source added.

Brooklyn accompanied his father the next day to a flower shop in Epping where he bought a bouquet for his grandmother.
