New TV show captures 'blind dates'

A new television show is offering people the chance to go on a "blind date" in a pitch dark room to analyse if looks really matter in a relationship.

Each episode of Living channel's Dating In The Dark programme will see three men and three women, living in separate apartments within a house, meet each other for dates in the Dark Room. Viewers can watch the action captured through infra-red cameras.

At the end of the episode participants will be allowed to pick the person they want to go on a date with and that is when they will be shown in the light. They have the option of going ahead with the date or giving it a miss.

The show is set to be aired in September.

The channel will broadcast another new series from next week called Four Weddings in which brides critique each other's wedding ceremonies in order to win a luxury honeymoon.

The special attraction will be the final episode of the show that will feature the weddings of Nicola McLean and footballer Tommy Williams; Terry Coldwell from East 17 and Faye Saterlay; US actress Sandra Dickinson and Mark Osmond; and the renewal of vows of TV presenter Phil Turner and make-up artist Gary Cockerill.
