Carly Zucker in baby girl joy

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole's wife Carly Zucker gave birth to the couple's first child in London, following a 16-hour labour.

The baby girl was born at London's Portland Hospital, weighing about 6lb 3oz. The mother is said to be 'doing well'.

The fitness trainer and the footballer, who tied the knot on June 20, 2009, are yet to decide on a name for the new arrival.

However, Carly, 25, recently said in an interview that they knew she was pregnant with a girl and were keen on calling her Scarlett.

She was spotted watching her husband's Chelsea team lose to Inter Milan in the Champions League last week, before she went into labour.

According to the latest reports, Joe will leave Chelsea on a free transfer this summer to join title rivals Manchester United.

The 28-year-old player decided to do so after the Stamford Bridge club "humiliated" him with the offer of a one-year contract and a 40% pay cut.
