Mother's Day: the complete confetti guide
Mothering Sunday is the perfect opportunity to remind your mum how much you appreciate all she's done for you.
We celebrate Mother's Day every year -- and with good reason. Mums and their hard work often go unappreciated, so here is a day to redress the balance. But do you know why this sweet holiday exists?
Mothers have been celebrated since ancient times. The Greeks had a festival devoted to Rhea, mother of the gods, while the goddess Brigid was honoured in Britain. Mother's Day is now celebrated in many countries around the world.
The fourth Sunday in Lent was designated as Mothering Sunday at the start of the 17th century because this was the time when servants were allowed to visit their mothers. The festival was officially established in America in 1914.
Since then Mother's Day has gone from strength to strength -- and quite right too. Our guide is full of tips and suggestions to help make her special day extra special. Let’s hear it for mum!
