Purple is a colour with many personalities. The most obvious association is with royalty, but purple is also representative of adventure and mysticism. 

You can make purple the signature colour for different types of themed parties. It also accessorises well with gold.

Medieval theme

Invites

• send invites with purple and gold confetti spilling out
• use purple wax and a stamp to seal envelopes

Decorations

• toss purple and gold-wrapped chocolate around the tables
• decorate tables with chunky church candles
• use metallic purple streamers to reflect the candlelight
• use purple satin ribbon as napkin holders
• use a family crest or use heraldic designs in your decorations

Food

• serve bowls of rich purple and dark red fruit -- blackberries, cherries, red pears, purple grapes

• give purple foil chocolate heart favours
• provide flutterflicker -- wands of colourful confetti for guests to play with
• tie purple balloons and streamers to guests’ chairs
• decorate with jelly jars filled with lily of the valley or wild flowers. You could even tint the water purple with food colouring!
