Hand in glove
Hand in glove
If the glove fits...
There's more to the phrase “fits like a glove” than you might think! In fact, it's important to get yourself properly measured when buying a pair -- head for your nearest department store or buy them from the same place as your wedding dress.
- Gloves are measured from your middle fingertip.
- The shorter the bride the shorter the glove should be (and vice versa for taller women).
- Pick gloves that complement your dress, rather than draw attention from it.
- Gloves come in all sorts of different fabrics -- mesh and cotton have both been popular in millennium year.
- Check out vintage clothes shops or costumiers for antique examples, but be sure to choose a style that suits your dress.
- Look for gloves that unbutton at the wrist -- these will come in handy during ring-giving.
- If you've found the style you want but not the colour, buy plain gloves and dye them to match your dress (but check the label first to make sure this won't damage the gloves).
- If you have very muscular arms, steer clear of gloves completely.
