Karen and Dean We used to work together at Air UK/KLM in Sales. Describe the marriage proposal. On my 30th birthday, Dean presented me with a ring. How long did you spend preparing for the day and how was it? We spent about a year planning the wedding day. It was hard work arranging the wedding as well as the whole trip for 45 friends and family but it was worth it in the end.. What type of wedding ceremony did you have and where? The local registrar married us in the Skylight Wedding Chapel on board Royal Caribbean International's cruise ship Explorer of the Seas in the Port of Miami. We booked a package which included flowers, ceremony , some photos and other extras. The ceremony lasted approximately 30 minutes and we were able to have our own music and some readings by family members. Where did you hold your reception and what was it like? Our reception was in the Maharajas Lounge onboard Explorer of the Seas. We had a private reception for two hours immediately after the ceremony. We arranged for canapes and drinks for the guests and also had speeches and dancing. Is there anything you'd change, with hindsight? Not to take so many guests with us! To have a longer reception as went too fast. What advice would you give to couples currently planning their wedding? Do what is important to you to make it a day to remember. Enjoy it as time flies by, and be as organised as possible. Is there any other detail that you would like to share? It was a truly memorable experience and so different to a normal wedding. It was great fun getting married on the ship and then the whole group cruised off for a seven night Caribbean cruise.
