Amanda and Gavin

I met Gavin in May 2001, we met through friends and started going out together on the 1 June 2001. After many great holidays together we decided that Florida was going to be our last big holiday before we bought a house. We had spoken about getting married a few times before, he knew what type of ring I liked and my ring size, and that was that. So, in April 2004 we jetted off to Orlando in Florida. It was wonderful - I'd been there a few times before but it was Gavin's first time so it was lovely showing him round. We hired a really good car, and just generally enjoyed ourselves.

On the 20 April 2004 (a date we will never forget 20/04/2004 for many reasons) we went to Disney's Magic Kingdom park (my favourite) and yes the child in me did come out. At the end of a wonderful day we sat in front of Cinderella's castle and ate ice-cream. After a while the park security had cordoned off an area, I suggested that maybe someone was getting married, he then asked me if I would like to get married in Disney and I said of course I would. He then asked whether I thought I'd marry him there and I jokingly said 'Well you've got to ask me first!'. The next thing he turned to me and said 'what about if I gave you this, would you be my wife?'... and produced a platinum diamond ring.

I said yes straight away. He knows me so well - he asked me in my most favourite place in the world! We didn't tell anyone until we got home and it was lovely just us knowing. Once we got home the party really began! We had a big party and set the date for 2nd September 2006. Needless to say we're not getting married in Disney, but we are going back there for our honeymoon!
