| I thought I would write to tell you about my engagement to my beautiful future bride. Back in September 1998, Anna and I went to Paris for a weekend trip - unfortunately it bucketed down with rain for the whole time! Anna was quite happy looking around the shops and buying clothes, whilst I just tagged along like most boyfriends do, looking interested and experiencing the aching legs that most women don't have while shopping! On the last day, I wanted to do at least one tourist attaction and bugged Anna to go to the Eiffel tower with me. We left it until the last minute of our holiday and went up to the top. Up there, above the clouds, and overlooking Paris, I asked Anna to marry me. I don't think it was too much of a shock as we had spoken about getting married for ages. Thankfully, she said yes, but I think we both got caught up in the romanticism of the whole thing because we forgot the time and missed the plane home back to London and indeed the last plane back to Gatwick! Anna wasn't too pleased due to fact she had started a new job and needed to be home for Monday morning. I wasn't the flavour of the month and the romantic cloud I was on was suddenly whipped away from under me and I came crashing down with a bump! Luckily, two hours later, the last plane to Heathrow was announced and we got the last two seats - all was not lost. We plan to marry in August 2001 - and honeymoon in the Seychelles. Believe me when I say we won't be missing that plane! |
