Carrie and Darrell

Darrell and I have been together since 17th September 1996, when I was 17, and he was 25. We had met through mutual friends about 6 months previous, but I was together with someone else at the time.
A week after that relationship ended, Darrell asked me if I would like to go out for a drink sometime, and we then spent the afternoon talking. By teatime, we had decided to "start seeing each other".

A few months down the line Darrell told me that he had fancied me from the first time we had met, and that he had been waiting for my other relationship to end so that he could ask me out!!
We moved in together in early 1998, and everything was fantastic. I had mentioned getting engaged before, I just dropped it into the conversation one day to judge his reaction, and Darrell said that perhaps we should wait.

Later in the year, Darrell asked me what I would like to do in September to celebrate us being together for two years, to which I replied, " perhaps we ought to have a weekend away, maybe you could surprise me! "
September 18th, 1998, we packed our overnight bags for two days away, jumped in the car and headed south.
We arrived in Poole some time later and headed for a B&B. Darrell then informed me that we would be getting up at 4 in the morning because we were going to get the ferry to Jersey!! (Somewhere I've always wanted to go!).

Next day we got on the ferry and had a lovely trip over in beautiful sunshine. We were collected at the terminal in Jersey and taken to a hire car center where we collected a beautiful, black convertible!! We then went to our hotel where Darrell said we could let them know we were here, but that we would be going to the zoo almost straight away.
I told him that I would like to get changed first, so we sat in the foyer while the hotel got our room ready.

Darrell said he had left something in the car, so he went to get it. When he came back he got down on one knee and said" you know I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" He was holding a lovely sapphire and diamond ring out for me. " Yes!" was all I could think of!!!
He placed the ring on my finger and we spent a lovely weekend in Jersey!!!

We have now set a date and booked the church for the 27th of July 2002!!!
