Claire and Lawrence

Lawrence and I got engaged on the 16th of July 2000. We were on holiday in Fuerteventura and had been there for about four days when it was our five-month anniversary. We found this lovely little restaurant on the sea front and had a wonderful meal and plenty of red wine.

Lawrence is a very romantic person anyway, so I didn't think anything of it when he kept telling me he loved me and wanted to spend forever with me. We had discussed marriage, but he said he would rather wait a year. So you can imagine my surprise when, in the middle of this restaurant, he got down on one knee and said, "Babe, will you marry me?"

I was crying so much I nearly forgot to say, "yes"!!!

Before we went away he had already told his parents and mine, asking my father's permission etc. so when we got back all we had to do was plan the engagement party, not to mention spending hours on the phone telling friends and family the good news!!
