Gayle and Steve

I came home from work after a busy shift on a hot summer's day last July. I wanted to go to pick wallpaper, but Stevie said he was taking me out for the afternoon. I don't like surprises, so I nagged as to where we were going. Of course, he wouldn't tell me. I went through everything I could think of. All I was told was put your jeans on and bring a hat! Why would I need a hat on such a hot day I asked. Trust me, he replied. We travelled for an hour or so down the motorway. I continued to ask where we were going. Then as we approached a country lane, I saw the signs: HOT AIR BALLOONING. Oh no!!!! This was a life long ambition for me. And two hours later, I was thousands of feet in the air over beautiful countryside. Then he popped the question. There were twelve other people in the air balloon, so he couldn't get down on one knee, but it was the most romantic thing ever. If I said no, he would have chucked me out of the basket. It is a day I'll always remember. The hat was for the hot flames by the way!
