Gemma and Stuart

My story happened only a few weeks ago. My fiancé and I have been together over three and a half years and had talked about getting engaged and married when we had the money as we had only just graduated from uni last summer. One Sunday about four weeks ago we were out shopping and we walked past a jewellers and stopped for a quick look (not necessarily at rings- I just love jewellery!). I spotted this gorgeous ring that I immediately fell in love with. There were two versions - one in white gold and one in platinum. They were both in the sale and were reduced from £1065 (platinum) to £537 and from £750 (white gold) to £365. We are quite poor and Stuart has always said how he would love to buy me an expensive ring but couldn't afford to. I said to him that this was the perfect opportunity to get me an expensive ring for more like our price range. Anyway - he said that we couldn't afford it.

I was a little bit upset, as this really was my dream ring but I understood that we couldn't afford it. Later that week, I came home from work find the house decorated with candles and Stuart cooking a lovely dinner. I had a passing thought that he might be about to propose, but he didn't. I was a little disappointed as he doesn't often do things like that but I soon got over it. The next day all was back to normal and just before we were about to go to bed, he asked me to go to the corner shop for some milk. I sulked for a bit because I didn't want to go, but in the end I did and when I got home and went into our bedroom, it was full of candles and he was down on one knee with 'the' ring in his hand! I said yes straight away! We are so happy and I can't stop looking at my gorgeous ring.

P.S. He bought me the platinum version!
