Jenni and Mark

We went down to Plymouth to spend New Year with relatives. We had planned to go down to the harbor and see in the New Year with all the fireworks and the band that was playing. We left the house at around 11pm. There is an old castle wall and we were all standing there laughing and chatting away, with a few beers. The sky was really overcast and there was a slight drizzle, but this didn't dampen the mood.

Midnight came and we were all cheering and started singing. Mark lent over and whispered in my ear, "Jen, will you marry me?"

I thought he was joking. You see, it was something we had talked about, but I never thought it would actually happen. We've been together for four years and I've not had an unhappy day with him yet. He had to ask me again as I just stood there staring at him. Then he got down on one knee. It was the most romantic time I can ever remember. Fireworks going off in the background and hundreds of people waiting for me to answer him.

The answer was yes, just in case you were wondering, and we get married on the 5th August 2000.
