Karen and Kevin

My girlfriend had no idea that I was going to propose. I'd asked her what her perfect ring would be (princess cut diamond solitaire on platinum) and I was winding her up that it was more likely to be a 'Kinder Egg' ring.

We went out to our favourite restaurant (a monthly treat to ourselves) and I'd been joking through the meal that one day she'd be my wife. After the main course we got the dessert menu and I said I had something to ask her - she thought I was going to ask to share a slice of chocolate cake! I asked her if she would do me the immense honour of marrying me and being me wife.

We have set a date of 7th October 2006 (six years to the day since we met, four years after we started going out almost to the day and exactly two years from the engagement).
