Lisa and Gary

Well what can I say apart from I was not expecting it!

We had planned to go to a Craig David concert two days after my birthday and planned to meet at my father's house. Gary doesn't normally drink so it was a bit weird that he wasn't driving but I just thought he must want a few drinks, after all it was just after my birthday!

So after work I went to my Dad's. Gary suggested I ask my Dad for a lift into town, to which I said, "No" as it would be a nightmare with regard to traffic! At six thirty he said, "Come on lets go then, your Dad's giving us a lift." I stepped outside only to find a limousine there - being stupid I said, "Who's that for?" "You," he said, "your carriage awaits with a bottle of Champagne!"

We got to the concert and had a good night and then as a love song played, he told me to sit down. He pulled out a ring and asked, "Will you marry me?" A few tears later I said, "Yes" and we shared a kiss!

After the concert we decided to go and have some food. We then went to get a taxi when he turned to me and said, "Let's get one outside the Midland Hotel in Manchester," which I wasn't too happy about as it was quite a walk away but I agreed after all as I didn't want an argument.

Once we got outside the hotel the queue was massive. He then suggested, "Let's have a drink in the hotel" I said, "We can't, you have to be a guest." To my surprise he had booked a room. The hotel is a five star and very expensive to stay in! (It is where Phil Neville got married!) I had no idea about the whole thing. His family and my father knew everything - how my ten year old brother didn't let the cat out of the bag I don't know!

It was lovely, I will never forget that day. Now I have my wedding to look forward to, which is 2nd August 2003.

He is wonderful - not only is he my fiancé, he is my best friend. I have had a rough few years and Gary has always been there. I couldn't ask for a better husband!
