Sarah and Mark

Picture the scene - it's a hot, sunny Spanish evening in the summer of 1996 and my best friend and I are sipping long cool Sangrias in a bar, whilst gazing at groups of men. I wasn't even looking for a boyfriend, let alone a husband. Then a group of three men came over to talk to us. My friend and I are both Southerners, never having been past the Watford Gap in fact, and we were now having a flirty conversation with three Yorkshire guys. Mark, in particular, caught my eye. He was cute, tanned and had gorgeous eyes. We talked all night and arranged to meet the following evening. We did so and them again on the night before I left, when we exchanged addresses. Holiday romance, I thought, but the day he arrived back he phoned and asked me to visit him in Harrogate. Three weeks later, I did and the rest is history. Our relationship grew rapidly and soon I knew he was the one - he treated me like a princess - still does. Six months after meeting Mark, I moved from London, left my job and my friends and now live in Harrogate with him. It was a big risk, people said it would never last, but every day gets better. A year ago, whilst holidaying in the Caribbean, he produced a bottle of Champagne, a ring and a proposal of marriage. I accepted with joy and we are now preparing for our big day.
