Chrissie and Tim

After 4 years of waiting he finally asked. We were in Sri Lanka, and had gone to a nearby 4 star hotel for dinner, but were a bit early so decided to have a nose in the hotel's jewellers. We both spotted a gorgeous white gold ring with small hearts cut out of each side and 3 diamonds.

Once inside I tried it on, it fitted perfectly!! Over dinner, Tim asked if I wanted it, "You only buy me a diamond ring for one reason", I said. "Yeah," he replied, "Because it's nice!?" "No!! Because you want to marry me!" I responded. "Ok then!!"

We bought the ring and rushed back to our hotel!! FOUR whole days he made me wait, every night I would get dressed up for dinner, hoping that night would be the night, but no. On the very last day of our holiday, when I had decided it would be another 4 years before the ring actually made it onto my finger, we went for one last walk along Hikkaduwa Beach.

This beach is like something from a Bounty advert, blue sea, palm trees, soft white sand. I'd sneakily tried to see if the ring box was in his short pockets, but it wasn't, no engagement today!

Whilst sitting on our behinds, looking out to sea, he untied it from the tie on the front of his swimming trunks and asked, "When do you want to get married then?"

Such an old romantic!! 31st August 2002, St Georges Church in Kemptown Brighton, after 5.5 years!!
