How and when did you meet?
We met through our chief bridesmaid, Fiona, and our best man, Simon.  It was on Simon's birthday night out in August 2002.

How old are you both?
I am 23 and David is 26.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
It was on my 21st Birthday in September 2003.  I was due to be having a big birthday party the day following my 21st birthday.  David made me think that he had booked a table at a really nice Thai restaurant for our dinner, but we had to go out to his house so his mum and dad could wish me a happy birthday first.  So we got out to his house and there was nobody there...the next thing I knew, he was giving me my presents to open, and then he got down on one knee with my engagement ring in a box in his hand and asked me to marry him!  He had no intention of taking me out for dinner; instead he made us a lovely meal (prawn cocktail, followed by fillet steak and the Hagen Daaz ice cream - all my favourite things!).  And of course we had champagne to drink with it!  That night and the wedding are the happiest memories in my life so far.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?
Yes, I had two hen nights.  One in March for family and close friends and a pub crawl in April with other friends, work mates, etc. David had a pub crawl in April.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?
David was really helpful and actually really enjoyed helping me! Although the honeymoon wasn't a surprise, he took care of all that, he booked our photographer and sorted out the registrar details.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
I was on the confetti every day, from the very day we started planning our wedding (back in 2004).  The girls in the Cafe are so helpful and I got help with lots of things from favour dilemmas to table diamond emergencies!

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
We bought lots of items from confetti for our wedding.  We got candles, feathers, hen night invitations, disposable cameras to name but a few. We ordered everything through the confetti website.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it
My dress was Maggie Sottero - Cie in diamond white.  I wore Pink by Paradox shoes (Paradise) and my tiara was by Ellie K.My whole outfit was from Brides Delight in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
Yes, I had three.  My best friend, Fiona, my now sister-in-law, Kay, and my niece, Danielle. Fiona and Kay wore matching strapless dresses in a rose pink colour, and Danielle wore the junior version of the dress (she's 11).

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
David chose his best friend, Simon, to be the best man.
Our ushers were my uncle, Richard, and David's cousin, Stephen.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
Civil.

Where did you hold your ceremony?
Maryculter House Hotel, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Where did you hold your reception?
Same as ceremony.

Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had two white Rolls Royce cars.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
There were around 130 invited to the daytime, and an additional 40 invited to the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Yes, the theme was pale pink and dark pink.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
We had two shades of pink feathers, pale pink disposable cameras, clear table diamonds, pink favours, the table plan was outlined with dark pink and the table names, menus on the tables, place settings continued the theme with pale pink and dark pink.

Did you give your guests favours?
Yes, vanilla candles wrapped in pale pink organza bags, tied with darker pink ribbon and they had a tag saying our names and the date of the wedding.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
All our bouquets were different shades of roses and were hand tied.  My bouquet had diamante pins in mine and was bigger, while the bridesmaids had bright pink pins in theirs and theirs were smaller. The florist also did a spray of flowers for the topper for the cake. We didn't have flowers on the guests' tables, and the hotel supplied the flowers for the top table.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
We had: smoked chicken Caesar salad topped with bacon, parmesan cheese, croutons and served with a Maryculter Dressing, traditional Scotch broth, supreme of chicken filled with a local Aberdeen mealie pudding, wrapped in bacon and smothered with a rich onion jus. For dessert we had strawberry cheesecake served with a trio of coulis and freshly brewed coffee served with fudge. The vegetarian option was vegetarian stroganoff.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?
Celebrations in Aberdeen made our wedding cake. We had three tiers of sponge cake and a separate slab of fruit cake (in case anybody wanted traditional fruit cake). The separate slab was cut up behind the scenes though, so nobody knew it wasn't part of the cake.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
Yes, we had a band called Burlesque and a DJ, both were the evening entertainment.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
Yes, our gift list was with John Lewis.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
Our first night was spent in the honeymoon suite at the Maryculter House Hotel. Our honeymoon was in Florida (first week in Orlando, second week in Tampa). The honeymoon was booked with Thomas Cook.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Seeing David waiting for me as I was walking down the aisle.

Did you experience any 'nightmare' moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
There was nothing major.  There was the odd hiccup here and there, but I wouldn't say we had any nightmare moments.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
I wouldn't do anything differently. Our day was perfect. My advice to other brides is when the day comes just relax and enjoy the day.  You and your hubby have been working hard to plan the perfect wedding, so you need to make sure you both just enjoy it! Also, enjoy every minute of your planning - believe me, the months of planning pass by so quickly, it's unreal!
