Fay and Paul's wedding photos

How and when did you meet?
We met through the Internet in October 2004. It gave me and my friends many hours of amusement.

How old are you both?
27.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
He proposed while we were lying in bed at 2 am in the morning! He pulled the ring out from under the bed. Not everyone’s idea of romance but very lovely.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?
Paul went to Bristol with his mates and about 20 friends and I went for a Chinese and a night on the town. Nothing too racy. They dressed me up with a hat, veil , potty, L plate and the rest of the girls had t-shirts with the date and names on.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?
He stayed out of the way and only commented when he was asked to. The minister commented on that in his sermon. He said “A lot of patience and understanding has been involved in this wedding. Fay has patiently explained what she wants and Paul has had the wisdom to understand and see to it." That raised a few laughs!

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
Yes, I was addicted. I didn’t post an awful lot but I read everything.

Do you have a confetti web page?
Yes.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I went to the Glasgow store but I bought a few odds and ends from the site.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it
I had a Sincerity dress. It was champagne coloured with cappuccino embroidery. It was the first dress I saw and I kept going back to it over and over again. I bought it in the Ayrshire Bridal Centre.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had three adults, my two cousins, my aunt, my 11 year old goddaughter, and my 7 year old daughter who all wore the same dress, which was a chocolate brown A-line Forever Yours dress which was ruches around the waist with diamante details on the bust. The flower girl had a Margaret Lee dress which had a gold bodice and full tulle skirt.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Paul, Lauchlan (my son who is 8), Lee (his best man) and M ark(his usher)wore morning suits and Andrew, our other usher (my cousin), wore a kilt.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
Religious

Where did you hold your ceremony?
Tarbolton Parish Church

Where did you hold your reception?
The Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Ayr.

Did you have any special wedding transport?
We hired two stretch limos.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We invited 80 all day and another 80 in the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Chocolate brown and gold.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
I had chocolate and coffee scented candles in glass holders with our names and the date on them in bronze writing and they were tied up with a gold ribbon. We put one at each place setting. For table decorations, we had roses in square tank vases.

Did you give your guests favours?
Yes, we had the candles for the day guests and in the evening we had brown organza bags with gold chocolate hearts and a mini Virgin Vie product .

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
My florist was Red Red Rose in Mauchline. My bouquet was hand tied cream roses with diamantes pearls and bear grass. The bridesmaids had palm leaves with cream roses pinned up the stem. The flower girl had a fairy wand with a rose at the top.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
Our venue did the food. We had soup or melon, then roast chicken, beef, or cheese and sundried tomato tortellini. Profiteroles or ice cream for dessert. Then we had coffee and mints

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?
Sugar and Spice did the cake. It was ivory and made up of three tiers—one sponge, one choc, one fruit with iridescent glitter with an firework style cake topper in our colour scheme.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had the band ReLoad in the evening. I cannot praise them enough.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
Debenhams

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent our first night at the venue then we went to Sandals Royal Bahamian for eight days.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?
My granddad rubbing my arm as I walked past him on the way down the aisle. It made me cry—in a good way though.

Did you experience any 'nightmare' moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
It rained the whole day and I was 20 minutes late leaving the house because of my mother.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Elope! No, only kidding!
