What size marquee?

The marquee hirer should advise on the marquee size(s) you require, however if you wish to experiment with layouts or plan yourself the following is a guideline for minimum space required in a marquee. Examples are shown in the marquee layouts.

Standing area for 10-15 people
10ft x 10ft
3m x 3m
Round table for 8-10
10ft x 10ft
3m x 3m
Long or oval top table
10ft x 20ft
3m x 6m
Buffet area (one area for every 50 guests)
10ft x 20ft
3m x 6m
Dance floor (for 60-90 guests)*
10ft x 20ft
3m x 6m
Dance floor (for 120-180 guests)*
20ft x 20ft
6m x 6m
DJ area
10ft x 10ft
3m x 3m
Band Area
10ft x 20ft
3m x 6m

* Knowledge of guests’ age range/willingness to dance may adjust this.
  • Ideally allow some additional space in the seating area.
  • Long tables require a similar amount of space to round tables

  • Catering areas would typically be 20ft x 20ft (6m x 6m) but may need to be bigger for large weddings.
