No bridesmaid dress for Lady Sovereign at sister's wedding
06/03/2007
Lady Sovereign refused to wear a dress to her sister's wedding - and wore a tracksuit instead.
The 19-year-old British rapper asked Adidas to make her a specially designed bridesmaid's tracksuit - in keeping with her casual, sporty style - so she wouldn't have to walk down the aisle in a frock.
She told Contactmusic: "The last time I wore a dress was like ten, 11 years ago. I didn't even wear one to my sister's wedding and I was a bridesmaid!"
"I rung up Adidas and said I need the nicest two-piece sort of tracksuit thing."
"I got a white and gold one, so I wore that and walked down the aisle with these two other girls who were wearing nice big frocks."
The north Londoner, real name Louise Harman, wrote her first raps at the age of 14 and released her first studio album in 2006, entitled Public Warning.
She has since recorded tracks for an album of songs for American TV programme The OC, including a cover of the Sex Pistols' Pretty Vacant.
In the spring, the rap star will be the opening act during Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape tour.
