Natalie and Tim

Date of proposal
02/08/07

How old were you both when you got engaged?
I am 31 and Tim is 32

Who proposed?
Tim

How did your partner (or you) propose?
Tim had told me that we were going out for dinner with friends but when I got home after work and got changed and was ready to go, he announced that I'd need more than a small handbag as we were off to a hotel for two nights. He promptly produced a bag that he had packed for me and suggested a few additions that I might like to add to the packing. It turned out that Tim had booked us two nights at the Oakley Court Hotel on the banks of the Thames in Windsor. We had drinks on the terrace and then walked along the river. Tim got down on one knee under a willow tree with the beautiful ring that we had chosen together a few weeks before. I was so excited and happy that he didn't get chance to finish what he wanted to say before I'd said yes. I actually felt quite bad that I'd interrupted him! The proposal was followed by a gorgeous meal in the hotel and then we had champagne and fruit in the suite that he had organised overlooking the gardens and the Thames. The following days were filled with fun including a day at Thorpe Park, a private cabin on the Royal Windsor Wheel and a private boat trip on the river. I had so much fun and it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about how much effort he went too and how much fun we had!

Who did you share the news of your engagement with first?
After dinner we rang my parents and then his. My parents already knew that the proposal was impending as Tim had asked my father's permission the weekend before.

Describe your ring.
It is a 3/4 carat brilliant cut certificated diamond set on a platinum band with a twist.

Did you help choose the ring?
Yes

When do you plan to marry?
We are getting married on the 13th September next year.
