Q.

I have looked and tried on many wedding dresses (in 18 shops in total) but still can’t find ‘the dress’. I am looking for something simple, sleek and modern that is not strapless, but all I can see to find is big or glitzy or full of lace. I am not opposed to lace but I am worried that lace does not reflect my personality. I am a size 8 and my budget is £1000. What designers would you suggest I look at or where could I go?

A.

Not every bride wants a strapless, beaded meringue (though some still do!) and simple, sleek and modern can be so elegant. I suggest you look at the gorgeous 1036 and 1019 (wistfully romantic names, I know!) by Dessy,  Solitaire,  Regalia and Eleanor by Suzanne Neville,  the very beautiful Ugarte, Abril and Ufana by Pronovias as well as Verso by Manuel Mota for Pronovias which is sleek and simple and modern.  The simple Marni, the lovely Lily and Celeste or, a little less simple but still sleek, Lizzie and Tilly by Stephanie Allin. Gina is also simple, sleek and fairly modern and so utterly stunning! I think it’s also worth looking at Temperly of London as, although many of Alice Temperly’s bridal gowns are vintage-inspired, they tend to be sleek lines with a contemporary edge. There’s also the Wedding Dress Showcase to peruse. I hope that helps. x
