Ask Kate: A ‘wow! factor’ wedding venue

November 7, 2012

Kate Thompson has been offering heart-felt advice and sparklingly different wedding inspiration for ten years. She is married with two children, and often features in the national press. With her warm and caring nature and off-beat sense of humour, she'll answer every question with knowledgable insight and understanding to help and inspire or simply restore your peace of mind.

I am starting to look at venues and we are having a civil wedding but want something a bit different to the local hotels and stately homes etc. We are living in south London but I am from Glasgow and as our families and friends are all over the country we really don’t mind where we get married. Can you recommend somewhere with a real wow factor?

There are some gorgeous wow-factor places in Wild and Wonderful Wedding Venues, of which I think Wise Wedding Venue, with its forest of tree house, and fairylights, is my favourite.

For something VERY different,  SpitBank Fort is an amazing luxury island that can be exclusively hired for your wedding, complete with your own private chef. Floating in the heart of the Solent, near Portsmouth, you’ll enjoy stunning sea views at every aspect. It sleeps 16+, has three private dining rooms and bars, a function suite, wine cellar  and even a rooftop hot tub, sun decks and sauna!  This wow factor wedding venue can only be accessed by boat.

And for true vintage style, The Midland is an iconic Art Deco hotel with its own seaside promenade,  set in the heart of the Lake District.

There are thousands of wedding venues to look at in the Wedding Venues Directory. Don’t miss our Special Interest Venues too.  You’re going to have some stunning photos, I bet!
