I’m worried, it’s eight months until the big day and I’ve still not found THE dress…  I’ve tried on so many – 80 approximately and just cannot find it. Any tips/advice, is it getting too late now?

Please be reassured that you still have more than enough time to find the dress of your dreams. I think that perhaps you are beginning to realise that the idea of there being ‘one’ dress that will be right for you is not true. There will be several dresses that suit you, some that you feel amazing in, some you look amazing in but just don’t feel comfortable with for whatever reason, and others you love for their style or the way they flatter your figure.

The best way to choose the wedding dress that is right for you is to consider:

1. what styles suit your body shape,

2. what kind of gowns say something about your personal style – for instance are you more modern or vintage? More classic or cool?

3. what kind of outfit you feel most comfortable in – for example if you’re not used to wearing dresses, you might want to consider going for an ivory trouser suit or a mini dress or just something different to the ubiquitous strapless white gown. You might want to choose a coloured wedding dress or something even more daringly different!

If you’re planning to order a designer dress then you still have 3 or 4 months to decide and if you’re looking at off-the-peg dresses then you only need to allow a month or so for alterations so please don’t worry just enjoy trying on wedding dresses! Have a browse through the Wedding Dress Showcase for ideas and then take a friend or your mum or sister with you and make a day of it by taking photos of all the gowns you try on and then discuss over a meal or a coffee which ones you liked best to narrow it down. Try on some more gowns with a new frame of mind and you will hopefully find one you like for all the right reasons. Hope that helps! x
