Q.

How long before the wedding should you start wedding dress shopping?

A.

It depends what kind of dress you’re planning to go for. Couture gowns are made to measure and will need around 6 months to make, designer gowns may take around 4 months to order in and then a further 2-4 weeks should be allowed for alterations. An off-the-peg or second hand dress should be bought in good time (ideally at least 4-6 weeks before, preferably more) to ensure it doesn’t need further cleaning or alterations.

As soon as you get engaged it’s useful to start thinking about the type of dress that you would like and what style would suit you best. Have a browse through online wedding dress galleries for inspiration.
