Q.

My dad and his fiancee are getting married soon and she wants me to be a bridesmaid but I don’t really understand why…

A.

Look at it from her point of view and you will start to see why she has asked you. She is marrying a man who has a daughter and she wants to connect with her new husband’s family and make everyone feel included. Perhaps she felt it more appropriate to ask you as you are his daughter than to ask an old friend of hers, because she doesn’t want you to feel that she is taking your father away from you in any way. I think it’s a lovely gesture she has made and it’s up to you if you agree to be her bridesmaid or not but if you do it will help to bring you closer to both her and your father and could be a great way to be involved in your father’s wedding.
