Q.

My dress is ivory and I have chosen a deep purple bridesmaid’s dress.

My fiance loves irises and he says that he would love it if I carried a bouquet of purple irises but I don’t know if it would look strange with my dress?

What do you think ?

A.

I think irises would look beautiful with your colour scheme and would be ideal for a spring wedding though you may be able to have them later in the year too. In the old language of flowers, the iris represents burning love, hidden message and compliments!

Discuss it with your florist and consider whether they will be hand-tied, whether you would like them as the only flower or as an accompanying flower and whether you would also like foliage in your bouquet. As your dress is ivory, it might be good to combine the irises with some ivory flowers so that the purple isn’t too heavy with your dress.
