Summer Wedding Outfits for The Mums

1st April 2016 |By | 4 Comments

Better weather is on its way and if you have a son or daughter who is getting married this summer, you’re going to want to start thinking about your outfit. With such a special role as mother of the bride or groom it is important that you look your very best! We have picked out our favourite summer wedding outfits for the mums, from sophisticated two pieces to stunning dresses, ensuring you look and feel a million dollars!

Two-Piece Outfits for the Mother of the Bride or Groom

A two-piece outfit is perfect for cooler summer evenings, provides a more formal look and gives you the option to peel off layers if needs be.

This pretty peach dress and suit jacket offers a classic and feminine look. The lace applique on the waist of the jacket defines the figure and the skirt falls elegantly to the knee creating a modest and sophisticated look.

Pronovias ‘Filipa’

A structured dress made out of a metalic brocade, this A-line dress flairs out from the waist which is defined by the beaded belt. The box pleats add movement to the skirt and it is finished with a simple matched cropped jacket. This outfit looks just as impressive with or without the jacket!

Dresses with a longer coat are great for that added extra warmth (British summer weather is pretty unpredictable!) and are great for skimming over any lumps and bumps you are conscious of.

Pronovias 'Laika' | Confetti.co.uk

Another outfit that looks just as stunning with or without the jacket. Don’t be afraid to wear grey or black to a summer wedding as long as the paler colour dominates. This classy outfit has been teamed with a matching pale grey hat to lighten the look.

Pronovias 'Ladis' | Confetti.co.uk

A slightly sassier option, this strapless satin coral dress with matching jacket has just the right balance of sophisticated and slinky. The pleated bodice with sweetheart neckline accentuates the figure and the knee length skirt ensures the right level of sophistication.

This dress may be simple but it is utterly stunning. The pleated skirt draws the eye to the waist, where sits a delicate matching belt. The bold red colour adds the wow factor along with the matching hat. The perfect option for a woman who doesn’t like fuss and frills.

If you’re concerned that a long sleeved dress will leave you hot and bothered ‘Fledis’ by Pronovias is a beautiful option. With it’s high lace illusion neckline, there is just the right amount of flesh on show! The navy lace over the blush under dress looks elegant and feminine.

We adore the bright pink shade of ‘Fidgy’ and it’s floral corsage which adds an edge to this modest lace dress.

Pastel shades are a gorgeous option for a summer wedding and look stunning with accents of golds such as your shoes, handbag and jewellery.

Pronovias 'Flavia' | Confetti.co.uk

For a more laid back look this soft and fluid wrap around style dress still oozes class and sophistication. We love the cascading skirt framed with a bow at the waist and the simple detail of the box pleat down the back.

Pronovias 'Fragancia' | Confetti.co.uk

A colour that suits most skin tones and hair colours, this bright turquoise lace dress is fab for a summer wedding! The v-neck and wrap around top is completed with a delicate bow around the waist and floral detailing on the shoulder.

How ridiculous to have mother of the bride/groom that look as though they have recently left college. Totally uninspiring and unrealistic.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on this article.I do take your point that the models who appear in this article are young enough to have been child brides themselves. I agree it would be more realistic to include a range of ages, shapes, sizes and styles in subsequent articles of this kind. I am sorry you have found the piece uninspiring for this reason and hope you will try to look past the models to see the broad variety of outfits available that include jacketed styles and sleeves alongside the sleeveless, short ‘bodycon’ dresses featured. I will ensure we include a wider range of styles on a more varied collection of models in future. Kindest regards, Kate

disappointing that you’ve used models that are highly unlikely to be old enough to have a bride or groom about their person

Thanks for your comment, I do hear you and agree that it would be more useful to feature a variety of ages and sizes in our mothers of the bride and groom articles. We are limited by the models the designers have chosen in their photo shoots but this latest collection for 2017 does have a few more models who are older than 25 I’m glad to say! http://www.confetti.co.uk/bridalwear/motb/wedding-dresses-for-mother-of-the-bride
