Graphology, the analysis of handwriting, provides a window on to your inner feelings and true personality. The technique is so popular nowadays that several large companies use handwriting experts to assess the suitability of potential recruits.

what do I need to do?

To analyse your handwriting - and, of course, your partner's - both sit down and write at your normal speed, using a pen you feel comfortable with, on a blank sheet of paper. Copy up to 15 lines of prose from a book or magazine, and then look at your for its key elements…

what to look out for...

The key elements we're looking for here are:

• How big is your writing?
• How does it compare to your partner's in size? (big/small)
• Does the handwriting slope backwards or forwards? Or is it upright? (If your writing varies, work out which direction it most frequently takes.) (forward slant/backward slant/upright)
