Emma's answers to Speech etiquette

Question

As the bride, I'd like to make a short speech which mentions mine and my fiance's deceased grandfathers (who we were both very close to before we met). Is it inappropriate to mention or toast deceased relatives?

Answer

I think this would be very appropriate and touching - but you might consider mentioning it to your grandmothers beforehand as it could be a very emotional moment.

It's lovely to mention people who can't be at your wedding - even if you have a simple toast to 'absent friends'.
