Emma's answers to Can I get married in church if I am not christened?

Question

My partner and I would like to get married in church. We are both Church of England but I have never been christened. Can I still marry or do I have to be christened first?

Answer

No, you don't have to be baptised to marry in a Church of England or Church of Wales ceremony. The Catholic church is far more strict and would expect you to be baptised into the Catholic faith.
