My partner and I are planning to get married. The problem is that we are living together in Ireland (where he comes from) but I come from Kent, and that's where my family and friends are. So where do we get married?

Yours is a dilemma facing many couples when planning their wedding.

You have several options:

You could get married in Ireland and invite your friends and family to Ireland.

You could get married in Kent and invite his friends and family to Kent.

You could get married somewhere in the middle of the two places (unfortunately though, then everyone has to travel and you may not be able to arrange a religious ceremony in this way).

You get married in Ireland or Kent and then have a blessing in the other place (but again, this could mean that everyone has to travel.)

Think about the implications of each option - which of your friends and family will be happy to travel, and also where you would most like to get married. If one of you has elderly grandparents who may not be able to travel then you could consider holding the ceremony near to them.
