Emma's answers to Can I wear black for my daughter's wedding?

Question

My daughter is having an afternoon wedding. Is it proper to wear a black linen ankle length suit with a lot of accesories? Please advise.

Answer

If it's a matter of etiquette then traditionally, black is not considered a suitable colour for a wedding. However, as the bride's mother, you have only your daughter to please and if she is happy with your choice of outfit then you shouldn't worry. It's usual for the mother of the bride to wear a hat and this could be the perfect excuse for you to add a splash of colour to your outfit!
