I'm getting married next year and it will be my second marriage. My parents are no longer together and I don't have a relationship with my dad. We have a seven year old son who wants to be involved in the wedding as much as possible, so I have asked him to give me away. I've now heard that my dad is upset about this and I feel guilty. What should I do?

Answer

You should do whatever makes you happy, and you definitely shouldn't feel guilty. I think asking your son to give you away is a wonderful idea.

Why don't you talk to your father and explain to him why you have made this decision. If he would like to be included in the wedding, perhaps he could do a reading?
