Emma's answers to Returning a wedding dress
Question
I was persuaded to buy a wedding dress in the sale, paid a deposit and later regretted the decision. I then approached the shop to explain that I had made a mistake and if they could help. They have been so unhelpful. What are my rights, if any?
Answer
I suggest that you try and sort the situation out directly with the store in the first instance.
Perhaps they will let you choose another dress and deduct the amount of the deposit you have already paid.
If you really can't come to an amicable solution with them, then you need to understand their sales policy as stated at the time you bought the dress. With this information you could go to the Citizens Advice Bureau (you will find your local branch in the yellow pages) and find out exactly what your rights are.
