Emma's answers to Pregnant bride

Question

We're getting married in May and have everything planned. However, I just found out that I am pregnant and the baby is due in January. I'm now really conerned about the wedding, but desperately don't want to postpone it.

Answer

Congratulations on your engagement and unexpected pregnancy. I think you have a couple of options to consider regarding the wedding.

1. Stick to your wedding date in May. Over the next few months, organise as much as you possibly can so that everything is done by January and you can relax in the run up to the birth. Visit a few dress shops and see what they suggest. If you choose a dress that is slightly larger than your normal size, it's sure to be fine by May. Best to keep it on the large size and then have any last minute alterations in April.
2. You could bring the wedding forward and get married while you're pregnant, but this does mean you have a lot of planning to do over the next few months.
3. Put the wedding back, perhaps even by a year. I know this isn't ideal but if you feel stressed about it, it will allow you a year with your new baby, time to relax the wedding planning and get your fuigure back the way you want it.

Whatever you choose, don't worry - you've already done most of the planning so you'll be fine.
