Emma's answers to Decorating the reception

Question

We're having a civil ceremony, and having our reception in the same room afterwards. We'd like to create a really romantic atmosphere for the ceremony and then completely change it for the reception afterwards. The room itself is a really blank canvas - can you help? I look forward to hearing from you soon. Can you please help us?

Answer

One of the most effective ways to create a romantic atmosphere is to use fairy lights or candles, and perhaps a cream marquee lining.

Some beautiful ivory or white flower arrangements will complete the look for your romantic ceremony venue, along with a few finishing touches such as tying cream bows around the backs of the chairs.

You probably won't have all that much time to convert the room in to your reception room, so you need to make a few uncomplicated changes. How about adding some colour with colourful linen on tables, coloured candles or fairy lights and putting a few coloured flowers in to your white/ivory arrangements. Finish the party look by sprinkling metallic confetti over the tables and putting favours out for guests.
