Emma's answers to Making a small wedding special

Question

I've always dreamed of having a large wedding in our local church, but in reality my boyfriend and I just don't have the number of friends and family to make the big wedding I'd hoped for. I'm worried that we won't fill the church but we don't want to get married at a register office which would be ideal for low numbers. Can you suggest ways of making even a small wedding very special?

Answer

Well you know what they say, "small is beautiful" so don't think you have to marry surrounded by hundreds of people to have a perfect day.

First of all, I really don't think it matters if you don't 'fill' your local church. If you have your heart set on marrying there, it doesn't matter if every seat isn't filled. Just be sure to choose well known hymns so that everyone sings loudly. You might decide to involve the church choir to help boost the singing!

Civil marriages can take place in thousands of venues around the country and not all of them are huge stately homes. You don't say whereabouts you live but I'm sure there are lots of suitable venues nearby. For example, you could marry on the London Eye overlooking the whole of London, the pods accommodate up to 25 guests. Check out
