Emma's answers to Wearing white to a wedding
Question
I have bought a very expensive white tuxedo trouser suit for my brothers wedding and have recently been informed that there is some old saying or tradition that says that you should not wear white to a wedding. The bride won't be wearing a white dress - it's ivory - and the wedding isn't hugely traditional. What should I do?
Answer
There's a school of thought that says it would be bad show to wear a white dress to a wedding, in case you are mistaken for the bride.
However, as you're in trousers, this is fine. If you still feel a little obvious though, why not dress it down with a colourful scarf, wrap or shoes? Remember you can always ask the bride if she is happy for you to wear it. I'm sure she'll have no problem whatsoever.
