Emma's answers to Church law questions
Question
My family live in Scotland, I've been living in London for the past five years, and my fiancee is from South America. We had decided to marry just outside London, but my mother is hurt and angry that I'm not geting married at home in Scotland. So - now we're looking at Scotland. In this case we would love to be married in the church my mum goe to and where she was married. However, it's Protestant and my fiancee is Catholic. What should we do?
Answer
The best thing you can do is to discuss this with the minister of your mother's church as it will be up to them. You should explain how important it is to you that you are married 'in the eyes of God' in church and they will be able to talk you through how that can happen.
