Emma's answers to Inviting the vicar
Question
I've heard that we should invite the vicar to our wedding reception. Is this correct? We don't really know him well and it might feel a bit odd, although he is a very nice chap.
Answer
It is customary and correct etiquette for the host to send an invitation to the church minister, but not to the registrar in the case of civil marriages.
While it is considered good manners to invite the vicar, you should remember that he probably has more than one wedding on the same day so, unless he is well aquainted with your family, he will probably decline.
