I don't really like the idea of the bridesmaid's carrying flowers. Can you suggest any alternatives?

Answer

It really depends how old they are. Younger flower girs could carry a basket of petals. Adult bridesmaids could carry a pretty evening bag instead of a posy.

Bear in mind that they don't need to carry something just for the sake of it - there's nothing wrong with them walking down the aisle empty handed.
