Emma's answers to Blue and silver theme.
Hi Emma, I've been looking everywhere and have been finding it really difficult to find things to go with the theme that I want for my wedding, I like the idea of navy/midnight blue and silver. All my family seem to think it would be really dark and horrible, but I thought it would be quite elegant and different since every wedding I have been to has been pink. I've tried to look for colour pallets and most florists' options are in pink or yellow, never blue. Can you help me? thankyou
I think that navy and silver will be very elegant and modern. If you combine it with white, cream and/ivory flowers and crisp white or ivory linens on the tables then it will prevent it from looking too dark. To brighten it up you could consider adding an accent colour of lilac or cream which would be ideal for a summer wedding as navy and silver do seem to be more winter wedding/ evening colours.
Confetti stock several wedding ranges in navy blue which you could use to decorate your tables. The navy blue ranges can be viewed in our shop. We also have an extensive silver collection.
I would recommend combining a selection of these items with white/ivory table linen, navy blue napkins with silver napkin rings, and dark blue plate chargers, with white plates. Match with simple glassware and you will achieve an elegant and chic modern look. Silver table confetti and navy blue cameras, with silver bubbles or party poppers at each place setting will complete the look. You could even use silver sweets in clear favour tins, or white boxes with navy ribbon to complement your colour scheme. I think that silver candle holders with either navy or white candles inside would also create the right ambiance and add a sophisticated air to your reception.
I would suggest using white, cream or ivory flowers for your centrepieces inside tall glass vases or even lovely silver buckets in the centre of each table. You could ask your florist about using hydrangeas, which you could couple with cream flowers such as cala lilies or roses. You could use navy blue and silver gems in the vases to pick up your theme. The colour scheme could be translated through to your bridesmaid's dresses, male bridal party's waistcoats or ties, button holes and corsages and so on.
