Emma's answers to Bridesmaids with opinions
Question
I've gone to great lengths to choose the right material and colour for my bridesmaids' dresses only to be told by two of them that the colour I chose isn't really their thing and would I mind if they chose something different. I think that this is very rude of them and really want them to understand that this is my day. What should I do?
Answer
You're absolutely right in standing your ground here; it is, after all, your wedding.
Perhaps they are just a little upset not to have been consulted in your decision making process. Reassure them that your chosen colour will be flattering on them and gently explain how you have carefully planned your colour scheme to match throughout and want every detail to be right. Tell them the great lengths you have gone to to find these dresses and ask them to reconsider. Remind them just how much it means to you that they are your bridesmaids. If they are still adamant that they will not wear the colour that you have chosen then you may want to consider accessorising with a neutral colour as a compromise - for instance adding an ivory wrap to tone it down.
